Application:

Dicalcium phosphate dihydrate has several functions in toothpaste making:

  1. Abrasive: It acts as a mild abrasive to help remove plaque, stains, and debris from the teeth, contributing to the mechanical cleaning action of toothpaste.
  2. Polishing agent: It helps to polish the tooth surface, making it smooth and enhancing the shine of the teeth.
  3. Tooth remineralization: Dicalcium phosphate dihydrate contains calcium and phosphate ions, which are essential for enamel remineralization. These ions can help to repair and strengthen tooth enamel, which may be weakened by acids produced by bacteria or consumed through food and drinks.
  4. Binder and thickening agent: It assists in holding the toothpaste ingredients together and provides a suitable consistency for convenient use as a toothpaste.

Dicalcium phosphate dihydrate in toothpaste enhances its cleaning and polishing properties, strengthens tooth enamel, and helps to maintain good oral hygiene.
